# Applying Pick Rules and Optimisations to an Account

> Configure pick rules and optimisation strategies for individual accounts to tailor the picking process to your business needs.

## Configure Pick Rules and Optimisation Strategies

Set up how products are picked for customer orders by configuring pick rules and optimisation strategies per account.

  <Step title="Access the account settings">
    From the left-hand menu, go to **Accounts** and choose the account you want to configure.

  <Step title="Select a pick rule">
    In the account settings, choose the **Pick Rule** you want to use: FIFO (First In, First Out), LIFO (Last In, First Out), Sell By Date, or Best Before Date.

  <Step title="Choose a pick optimisation">
    Optionally, select an optimisation strategy: **Storage Unit Breakdown Avoidance** or **Stock Rotation**.

    <Info>Optimisation strategies are optional but can make your picking more efficient.</Info>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save** to apply all changes.

### Choosing the Right Configuration

* For items that expire quickly, use **Sell By Date** or **FIFO**.
* For fast-selling products, **LIFO** might be suitable.
* Choose **Stock Rotation** if you need to strictly manage stock movement.
* Choose **Storage Unit Breakdown Avoidance** for better picking efficiency.

<Tip>You can set different pick rules and optimisation strategies for each account. If you do not select an optimisation strategy, the system will use the chosen pick rule without extra optimisation.</Tip>
