Storage unit types define the physical containers or pallets where your stock is kept. Setting them up correctly ensures your inventory is organised and easy to track. The three standard types are Standard Pallet (STD), Euro Pallet (EURO), and Tote Box (TOTE).

Set up storage unit types

1

Access storage unit types

From the left-hand menu, navigate to Settings > Storage Unit Types. You will see a list of all existing types, which you can view, edit, or add to.
2

Create a new storage unit type

Click New and fill in the required information:
  • Name and Code: A descriptive name and short code for the unit type
  • Reference Sequence: A sequence for tracking (see the sequences guide for more details)
  • Next in Sequence: The next identifier based on your sequence setup
  • Check Digit Requirement: Whether a check digit is needed
  • Pallet Details: Whether the pallet leaves the warehouse, and its dimensions
  • Naming Convention: How the unit type will be named
Click Save when finished.
3

Assign storage unit types to products

Go to the Products screen, find the product you want to edit, and click Show. Navigate to the Product Storage Unit section and add the storage unit types you need. The unit type at the top of the list will be the default. Drag your preferred type to the top to reorder.
4

Use storage unit types during stock receipt

When you receive stock, the system automatically selects the primary storage unit type linked to the product. You can change the unit type manually before finishing the receipt. For data imports such as pre-receipt files, enter the storage unit type code (e.g., EURO, TOTE, STD) in the relevant field.
