The system has two columns related to batch numbers: Batch and Stock Batch. While they often show similar information, they pull data from different sources. Understanding this difference is important for accurate stock tracking.

How to add a batch number to stock

When you receive or add stock, you can assign a batch number by adding the Batch column using the column manager. Once added, the batch number is linked to that specific stock line.

Understanding the difference

ColumnData SourceDescription
Stock BatchStock recordsAlways reflects the batch number directly from the stock record
BatchTasks/transactionsShows batch numbers connected to active tasks that use stock lines
The Batch column might sometimes be blank. This happens when a task was created before a batch number was assigned. In these cases, the Stock Batch column will have the information, but the Batch column will not.
The Stock Batch column always reflects the batch number directly from the stock record, even if the Batch column is blank due to a task being created before a batch was assigned.
