This guide explains how to set up new locations, input the necessary details, and understand the different location types available for various warehouse operations.

Navigate to Locations

Go to the Locations menu, found under the Settings tab.

Add a new location

You can add either a single location (by clicking “New”) or multiple locations.

Provide location details

Enter the location code, a description, the warehouse the location is linked to, and the location type.

Understand location types

There are six location types:
  • GIBAY: Goods-in bay for receiving and temporarily holding incoming stock
  • GOBAY: Goods-out bay for stock being shipped out
  • RACK: Standard racking location, most commonly used for storing pallets
  • PICKANDDROP: A staging point where one operator can park stock and another completes the move — see Pick and Drop Locations
  • WORK: Working area location that cannot receive stock directly
  • BAY: Versatile type that can be used for both incoming and outgoing stock
When a putaway is completed into a PICKANDDROP location, Clarus deliberately creates a second putaway task to carry the stock on to its intended location. That follow-on task is by design, not a duplicate — the receipt is only shown as put away once it completes. See Pick and Drop Locations.
Once you have created the location, it will be added to the warehouse you selected and will be ready for use.

Frequently asked questions

GIBAY stands for goods-in bay and is primarily used for receiving and holding inbound stock.
No, a WORK location is a working area and cannot receive stock.
GIBAY is for inbound stock (receiving), while GOBAY is for outbound stock (shipping).
Use it as a staging point when one operator, truck or shift cannot complete a move end to end — for example handing a pallet from a counterbalance truck to a reach truck. Clarus splits the move into two tasks. See Pick and Drop Locations.
